Who we are
clevrstart is a registered business name of a sole proprietorship registered with the Registraire des entreprises du Québec and operated by Luke Sidney from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The same business is also registered under the French name départ futé; both names are the same company. "We" and "us" on this page mean that business. Under Quebec law the person responsible for the protection of personal information is Luke Sidney, reachable at luke.sidney@clevrstart.com
PrivacyWhat this policy covers
This policy covers www.clevrstart.com, the newsletter, the booking link, our company pages and advertising on third-party platforms, and the personal information you send us while enquiring about or receiving our services. Work we deliver under contract to a client is governed by that contract as well; where the two differ, the contract governs for that client’s data.
PrivacyWhat we collect
Only four things. One: your email address, if you subscribe to the newsletter. Two: whatever you choose to tell us by email or when you book a call — typically a name, an email address, and a description of the work. Three: standard server records our host keeps for every website, such as IP address, browser type, and the time of the request, used to keep the site available and secure. Four: a functional cookie that remembers interface state. We run no analytics package, no advertising pixel, and no cross-site tracker on this site. We do not buy personal information, and we do not enrich what you give us from outside sources.
PrivacyWhat we use it for
To answer you, to evaluate and quote the work you asked about, to deliver and invoice that work, to send the newsletter you asked for, and to keep the site available and secure. Nothing else. We do not sell personal information, we do not rent or trade it, and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence models.
PrivacyData from LinkedIn and other platforms
We run company pages and, at times, paid advertising on LinkedIn, Meta platforms, and X. When you respond to one of our advertisements or submit one of our lead forms on those platforms, the platform passes us what you submitted — typically your name, your email address, and the answers you gave. We may also retrieve aggregate statistics about our own campaigns, such as impressions, clicks, and cost. We use that information only to reply to your enquiry and to measure our own advertising. Where the information comes from LinkedIn, we handle it in accordance with the LinkedIn API Terms of Use and LinkedIn’s own Privacy Policy: we store only what the enquiry needs, we never sell or disclose it to a third party, and we never use it to train models. You can withdraw our access at any time from LinkedIn under Settings and Privacy, Data Privacy, Permitted Services; and if you write to us we will delete what we hold, at luke.sidney@clevrstart.com
PrivacyHow long we keep it
Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiries that do not become work are kept for up to two years, so we recognise you if you come back. Records of work we actually performed — quotes, invoices, and the correspondence behind them — are kept for six years after the end of the tax year they belong to, because Canadian and Quebec tax law requires it. Server records are short-lived and held by our host; we do not export or archive them.
PrivacyYour rights
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, withdraw your consent at any time, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Write to us and we will answer within thirty days. If our answer does not satisfy you, you may complain to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec. PrivacyHow we protect it
Traffic to this site is encrypted in transit. Access to the database and to the systems that hold client records is limited to the operator of the business. Credentials and access tokens for third-party platforms are encrypted at rest and held in server-side configuration, never in the browser and never in source control. If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify the people affected and the Commission d’accès à l’information, as Quebec law requires.

Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25, and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Where you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we also honour the rights the General Data Protection Regulation gives you.
