01What are the GST and QST rates in Quebec?

02Do I charge GST and QST if I am a small supplier?

No. While your taxable sales stay under the threshold Revenu Québec sets, you do not have to register or collect the taxes, though you may register by choice. 03What is the NEQ, and does it go on my invoice?

The NEQ is the Quebec enterprise number the Registraire des entreprises gives a registered business. Print it on your quotes and invoices when you have one. If you do not, leave the field blank.

04How long should a quote stay valid?

Thirty days is common, and it is the default here. Choose fewer days when your material prices move fast. The document prints the exact date the quote expires.

05What must a Quebec invoice show?

At least your business name, the date, the client, what was done or sold, and the amounts. When you are registered, add your GST and QST numbers and show each tax on its own line. Revenu Québec lists what else is required as the amount of the sale grows. Source: Revenu Québec
